How to Edit and Send a Digital Invitation Template (Print or Share Online)

Digital invitations are one of the fastest ways to get everyone the details they need—without waiting on printing or postage. If you’ve purchased an editable invitation template from Printily By Ronni Jo, you’re only a few minutes away from a finished invite you can print or share digitally.

Below is a simple, repeatable process you can use for birthday parties, weddings, baby showers, etc. The goal: edit quickly, double-check the details, and send with confidence.

What you’ll need

  • Your purchased template link (from your order confirmation & PDF)

  • A phone or computer with internet access

  • Your event details (date, time, location, RSVP info)

  • A plan for delivery: print, email, or messaging app

Step 1: Open the template link and either login or create a new Canva account.

You will need a FREE Canva account to edit the template. If the template doesn't populate after creating your account, close out of Canva and copy + paste the link from the button into your browser. You should automatically be logged in now and the link will prompt you to edit it.

Step 2: Open the template and make a copy

Open the template link and start editing. If the editor offers a ‘make a copy’ option, use it so you always have a clean original to return to.

Step 3: Update the key details first

Start with the information guests look for immediately. This prevents missed details later and helps you spot spacing issues early.

  • Who: guest of honor / couple / parents-to-be

  • What: the event type (birthday party, wedding, baby shower)

  • When: date + start time (and end time if helpful)

  • Where: address + any parking/entry notes

  • RSVP: deadline + contact method

Step 4: Personalize the wording (optional, but recommended)

Even a small tweak makes the invitation feel more personal. Keep it short and clear—especially if you’re sharing digitally on mobile.

Step 5: Check formatting on mobile

Before exporting, zoom out and preview the design at a smaller size. If you can read it comfortably on a phone screen, your guests can too.

Step 6: Export for print or digital sharing

Canva lets you download in a print-friendly format and/or an image format for sharing. Choose based on how you’ll deliver it:

  • Printing: choose the highest-quality option available and confirm the size matches your paper.

  • Digital sharing: export as an image or shareable file that looks crisp on phones.

  • Both: export two versions—one optimized for print and one for digital.

Step 7: Send it (and make RSVPs easy)

If you’re sharing digitally, include RSVP info in the message text too. That way guests don’t have to reopen the file to respond.
